Former Lincoln City defender Jaden Brown has been without a club since leaving St Mirren last season, but it appears he could be on the comeback trail.
The one-time Spurs defender struggled after leaving the Premier League club, with disappointing spells at Huddersfield Town and the Imps. He did have a good spell at Sheffield Wednesday, where he is still well-liked by their supporters.
They’re in a spot of bother having been placed into administration. It could be seen as a good thing – they’ve got rid of Dephon Chansiri, seen by many to have been a cancer slowly killing their club. However, they’re also under a transfer embargo of sorts, and if they’re to strengthen ahead of their inevitable relegation, they’ll need to fish in free agent waters.
They have been linked with Duncan Watmore, also on Rotherham’s radar, but on social media, some supporters have suggested Brown, 26, could still do a job for them. There is no doubt, despite some personal struggles, that Brown still has talent, and he impressed there before. He responded on Twitter to a fan, suggesting he would love a return to Hillsborough.
I’d love for it to happen bro. Gods at the wheel. Nothing I can control https://t.co/qRrZMISS2v

It’s been a full year since Brown last turned out for St Mirren, but it has to be noted that after City, he did still bag a fairly decent move to the top flight in Scotland. He’s also been turning out for the PFA team over the summer, ensuring a degree of fitness. This is the same team that Adam Reach played for before his move to Sincil Bank.
Currently, the Owls have Manchester United loanee Harry Amass playing at left wing-back, and he would be hard to displace immediately. However, Brown might represent a solid acquisition if Henrik Pederson is planning for next season. As his side are 20 points from safety, it does seem safe to assume they’ll be dropping into League One.

That’s a level from which Brown has already been promoted in blue and white, and he’ll only be 27 when next season kicks off. Maybe he’ll get a shot at redemption when we face the Owls next season.
Or, should I say ‘if’ we face them, given our own promotion aspirations?
