We’re back again with our monthly review, powered by you, the Stacey West readers.
Over the course of a season, you rate our players on a level of one to ten per game, and that allows us to produce a Player of the Month, and Player of the Season. Last season, Tendayi Darikwa joined the likes of Conor McGrandles as your Player of the Season, but who will it be in 2025/26?

August was a busy month, with eight games, two in the cups (Burton and Harrogate) and six in the league. City won five, drew two and lost just once. With 12 goals scored and seven conceded, there was no shortage of excitement at the Bank.
Remember, to qualify for our list, a player must have played in 50% of the matches in any given month.
With that in mind, who was your first Player of the Month?

Player of the Month
George Wickens (7.55)

Pipping Tendayi Darikwa (7.21) and Conor McGrandles (7.15) to Player of the Month was our keeper, George Wickens, who has had a sensational start to the season.
He picked up Man of the Match twice from our readers, against Bolton and Northampton, both games in which we faced intense second-half pressure.
What is interesting is Zach Jeacock. He would have been second, had he played in enough games, with a rating of 7.35. Seems we’re loaded with top stoppers.
Individual Performance of the Month
George Wickens (Bolton Wanderers H) 8.9

It cannot be overstated how good Wickens was in this game, denying Bolton a couple of goals and keeping us in the lead right until the death.
It was a good rearguard action, but the trip to the Toughsheet proved to be far happier than that of nine months previous. If Wickens carries on like this all season, he’ll be another with a £1m price on his head.
Best Team Performance of the Month
v Reading (H) 7.23
While the 2-0 win against Reading felt routine, I can’t help but think there is an element of ‘opening day excitement’ here. I thought we were better against Plymouth, but those final 20 minutes, and the poor performance of one sub, brought the overall rating down.
Still, there is no better way to start the season than a routine, convincing 2-0 win against a side many tipped for the top.
