‘Must-Win’ – Bolton Wanderers Man Looks Ahead To Lincoln City Clash

On-loan Bolton Wanderers winger Rob Apter believes this weekend’s fixture is a ‘must-win’ for the Trotters, as they look to reel the Imps in.

After the weekend’s results, we sit six points clear of Bolton in third, and hold a game in hand over them. A win for City would be a disaster for the visitors, with a nine-point gap plus whatever we might get from the game in hand.

A win for the Trotters is a must – they know they’ll still need to pull in three points minimum, and that’s with a horrible run at the end of the season, including games against Cardiff City, Stockport County, Huddersfield Town and Luton Town.

Apter, who joined Bolton in January on loan from Charlton, believes his side have their heads in ‘win’ mode as they prepare for the trip to Sincil Bank.

“I think us going into that game now, our heads are fully on it to win it,” he told The Bolton News.

“I think that’s the only outcome we want from it. There will be loads of fans going there to see us take three points and we can’t be thinking about anything else now.”

Even a worst-case scenario defeat for the Imps would still see us hold the advantage in the promotion hunt, with Stockport to visit the Bank and a trip to Cardiff in March. Those three fixtures feel like huge pinch points, and Apter knows they need to keep the pressure on Michael Skubala’s side.

“We need a result that can put pressure on, try and get us up that table as much as we possibly can.

“The way we are at the moment, I think it’s a must-win game.”

City beat Bolton 4-2 in the corresponding fixture last season, but the two sides are not just second and third; we’re first and second in the six-game league table, with 16 points from a possible 18. City also top the ten-game form table and are third in the home form table. Bolton are eighth in the away table, with four wins, six draws and five defeats.
