Reeco Hackett is close to signing a new deal with the Imps, as reported by Pete O’Rourke.
Hackett has been the subject of much rumour this transfer window, with idle chatter linking him to MK Dons. However, if reports are to be believed, he now looks set to extend his stay at Sincil Bank a day after turning 28.

Jez George alluded to key players being in contract talks in his interview with the cl,ub yesterday, and any fresh deal for Hackett would thankfully put paid to silly chatter about his exit.
The Redbridge-born winger has been in sensational form of late, with seven goal involvements in his last nine outings, including two assists as we beat Peterborough United 5-2 on Sunday. He has seven goals and three assists this season, adding to the 12 goals and seven assists collected in the first two years he was with the club.
Hackett joined City in June 2023 and has since developed into one of the team’s most reliable attacking performers. His arrival was met with excitement, and within weeks, he had made his mark, scoring in a 3–0 home win against Wycombe Wanderers before following up with a spectacular strike at Northampton Town. That goal was later voted EFL League One Goal of the Month, confirming his ability to produce match-defining moments.

Hackett’s early 2024/25 form was interrupted by a hamstring injury, but he responded strongly, hitting four goals and registering two assists in February 2024, which earned him a Player of the Month nomination. However, it did take him a couple of months to get into full flow, with Ethan Hamilton also struggling at the time.
Another remarkable goal made the headline, a free kick as we beat Bolton 4-2 in early 2025. Instead of looking to curl over the top, he came inside the wall and found an empty space few had seen. By September 2025, he had recorded 70 league appearances and 12 goals for the Imps, balancing consistency with flashes of brilliance that have made him a fan favourite.
