Jack Wilshere confirmed as Luton Town manager
Luton Town have appointed Jack Wilshere as their new manager, with the 33-year-old taking his first full-time job in the dugout after roles in Arsenal’s academy and on the Norwich City coaching staff. He replaces Matt Bloomfield, who was dismissed earlier this month, and inherits a side sitting 11th in League One after back-to-back relegations from the Premier League and Championship.
Wilshere referenced advice from former team-mate and Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta upon taking the post, explaining how a decisive leap into management shaped his next step.
“About a year ago, I asked Mikel when he knew he was ready. He laughed and said, ‘You just have to jump in and swim as hard as you can.’”
Luton’s immediate schedule gives Wilshere a quick introduction to third-tier life: his first game is at home to Mansfield Town on Saturday, followed by a trip to Northampton Town the following week.
With a playing résumé that includes 34 England caps and more than 190 senior appearances for Arsenal, Wilshere now turns to stabilising the Hatters and rebuilding momentum at Kenilworth Road.
