I don’t think there’s a huge surprise here – our only defeat of the opening month is bound to be the worst game. Losing 3-0 on the opening day wasn’t part of the plan, but it did temper expectations a little, which wasn’t a bad thing.

We deserved to lose, but 3-0 did flatter the hosts a bit. Still, it was the low point of August by some distance.

While the Wycombe and Blackpool games scored highly, it was our penalties victory against Sheffield United that stood out for you. I think any team from League One holding a Premier League team on their own pitch is worthy of celebrating, and a penalties win rubber-stamps it as a great night.

The fact that 3,000 City fans were able to see it only adds to the allure of the game. We did play well, no doubt at all, and it has set us up for a wonderful night under the lights against West Ham.

Best Individual Performance – Lukas Jensen (Sheff Utd A) – 9.2

Saving penalties is a huge thing for a keeper, and we’ve seen with Alex Palmer and Jordan Wright in the past, it pushes up that average rating. Both of those keepers got Man of the Match in games because of penalty saves, and Lukas Jensen is now on the list.

It’s a testament to the rest of the team that outside of his big moment, he didn’t have an awful lot to do against £38m of strikers, but it was his saves that created the magical moments, and it’s your standout performance of the month.
