Worst Performance of the Month – Ipswich Town (A) 5.00

The picture is from an earlier encounter with Ipswich, but the outcome was the same, zero points. You especially didn’t like the loss at Portman Road earlier this month; Chris Maguire, Liam Cullen and Morgan Whittaker all scoring lower than a four. It was tough for the attacking players, Ipswich were well organised and tough to beat, but it didn’t seem like we ever believed we could.

Best Performance of the Month – Sheff Weds (H) 7.82

Of course it was. This was the home highlight of the season (I’ll add ‘so far’ with a degree of blind optimism). City controlled the midfield, attacked with grace and held firm against a decent side. The atmosphere was electric and the evening after the game was much better than any other this season. My only surprise is that Sunderland away scored higher.

Best Individual Performance of the Month – Lewis Fiorini v Sheff Weds (8.90)

It’s Lewis Fiorini’s month, appearing in the top three players and landing a huge 8.9 for his outing against The Owls. Our midfield was excellent in this encounter, and Fiorini was a key part of that. Freed by having three at the back, he strutted around the pitch as you’d expect a Manchester City loanee to do. He didn’t score, but he ran the show, overshadowing Barry Bannan at the same time. If he played like this every week, then he’d basically be Joe Morrell from two years ago.
