Worst Performance of the Month – Crewe (A) 4.57

You know it’s been a bad month when you get knocked out of the FA Cup, at home, by a team in the division below and it still isn’t your worst performance of the month. The trip to Crewe wasn’t terrible for 45 minutes; we didn’t concede, but those mad few minutes after half time did for us. Their opener came from an atrocious penalty decision, and then their second from a silly challenge that resulted in a red card and another penalty. It was tough viewing, and although I don’t think we were woeful, we still beat ourselves, with a bit of help from Declan Bourne.

October: Wimbledon (H) 5.27
November: Portsmouth (H) 4.63
Best Performance of the Month – Cheltenham (A) 6.16

I think this is an absurdly low score if I’m honest. The malaise which sets in when you lose a game in the final seconds results in lower numbers, but I thought we got a glimpse of the Lincoln City we know we can be here, for the first time in weeks. We showed character to come back from a goal down, scored twice and could have had more, then just shot ourselves in the foot, again, for the draw. This, coupled with MK Dons, were the corner turner I think (and I hope), and although it’s probably the first time a draw has got performance of the month, it could be a pivotal moment for the team.

Best Individual Performance of the Month – Ted Bishop v Cheltenham (8.3)

The picture’s not from Whaddon Road, sadly Bubs didn’t make that game and it turns out to be the big one for the month! Ted gets the award and I guess scoring twice in the league will do that for a fanbase starved of goals. It wasn’t just his goals though; playing out of position he proved his versatility, adaptability and application, and if he’s free of the niggly injuries that have dogged his opening few months here, then we’re going to be in luck. Was this the game that starts him on his journey to being a Lincoln City star? I hope so.
