I think it’s fair to say Josh had a shaky start, but I aid on Boxing Day I felt he was a better keeper than Alex Palmer (although there’s not much in it), and I stand by that. Alex benefitted from having a settled defence in front of him, whilst Josh has had to play behind something like eight different combinations of players. That doesn’t help at all, and he’s had to face a lot of shots as well. He’s largely done well, aside from those opening few matches.

It’s been a whirlwind few months for the young stopper. At one stage, he looked to be heading off to Gainsborough, but the West Brom situation meant he was back for Bowers and Pitsea. He has only appeared in cup matches at present, but he looks to be a keeper growing in confidence. He definitely needs a period of first team football, probably in the National League, to help prepare him for our first team.
