Lee Bonis – Portadown
Every time I see us linked with an Irish talent (Trai Hume), it seems Burnley are in for him as well! That can certainly be said of Lee Bonis, with whom we were linked this summer. It was reported we cooled our interest in the striker as his price rose, but could we revisit it this January? The 22-year-old was certainly a target, but there are caveats here to consider. Firstly, he is a part-time player, with a desire to go full time. He’s spoken of a desire to come to England, or stay in Ireland, where three clubs are currently after his services. The Belfast Telegraph suggest the fee is £60,000, and the player currently has three goals in 17 matches for his side, who are struggling. We do get a mention in one of the reports recently, which says we had one offer dismissed in the summer. Given how we tap into the Irish market, I can see this having legs, if we’re willing to match the fee.
