21-year-old Allan started life as a winger but now also plays through the middle, which could satisfy Michael Appleton’s love for versatility. He did have a loan spell in our division last season, playing four games for Accrington, but it didn’t inspire a whole lot of confidence in his ability. He’s previously appeared in the FA Cup for the Magpies, setting up a goal, but will need more senior experience if he’s to impress Steve Bruce. He is described by the Chronicle Live as being ‘quick and with an ability to pick out a pass as well as a natural instinct of where the goal is’. That’s what we like the sound of, right?
