Occasionally, I get people getting in contact asking if I want bits and bobs they have which they might be throwing out. At other times, I get the chance to buy boxes of things from people who have had a relative pass away, etc. These badges, along with others you’ll see very soon, were amongst items I got in a box purchased from friends of an Imps fan who had passed away.
I’ve seen this one pop up on eBay a few times, I’m not sure of the date. Usually, the Imp can help you date a badge, There are a couple of versions of this one out there, the older one is all red, rather than having the green hand, and instead of dots before Lincoln and after Football, it has lines.
Although this isn’t dated, judging by the Imp I’d put it around the mid to late seventies (happy to be corrected by the way). This also came from the late fan’s collection and is another that regularly pops up on eBay. We only took the Red Imps nickname in 1967, so it is definitely after that.
These are easier to date – one has the date on it! You can, of course, tell by the Imp as well. They’re virtually the same, so I imagine the one without the centenary date came first, then a slight design change was implemented for the second one. We saw the same in 2016/17, and again in 2018, as you’ll see in the final picture.
All three of these are recent and purchased by myself from the club shop. I never wear the badges I buy, they’re only ever to collect. The one in the middle came first with the rebrand around 2014/15. The one on the left is self-explanatory, and the one on the right is a little different, with a white background.
