Best Outing – Accrington EFL Trophy

It is hard to judge Max to any real level, because despite having 16 outings to his name this season, he only averages 23 minutes per outing in the league, and if you were to take away his one start against Accrington, then it would be 12 minutes per outing. It is really hard to get a firm grip on how a player has done with such little exposure, and the cups are not a great indication. Could we judge Max on his showing against reigning champions Liverpool? Or against the reserve sides of Shrewsbury, Accrington and Scunthorpe? Or even Manchester City’s kids? No, not really.

What I would say is he hasn’t directly let us down in any games, but in a season hit by injury early on, he does seem to be one of a couple of players who are perhaps a touch behind the rest. With news we are hunting a new left-back, it will be interesting to see what happens with Max heading into next season.

Best Outing – Swindon (A)

What is there not to love about Lewis Montsma? He is a centre half who juggles the ball in the opposition area, who rattles shots off from 50-yards and who takes an elbow in the face with more grace than Conor McGregor. The gamblers love him for the constant wins (I bought my ring light thanks to his winner at Blackpool), the ladies love him as he’s easy on the eye and everyone loves him because he’s a bloody good player. Picking a highlight is hard, there have been great goals and stellar performances, but Swindon away stuck out in my mind. He bagged a goal, but turned in a strong defensive display too, as well as pinging a couple of those 30-yard crossfield balls around as he does. I know he’ll get labelled the find of the summer, but he is one of three strong centre backs we have. In recent weeks he’s been sidelined and I think we have coped well without him, with isn’t a detriment to him but a testament to the squad Michael has assembled.

Craig Harvey says – Our own little Dutch Gem, found in the second tier of Dutch football has easily bin the signing of the summer with his attacking ability and defending ability in the boxes. He is a joy to watch, could well easily be Lincoln’s first million pounds plus player.
