Joe Powell
With Anthony Scully almost into double figures, it seems mad to think that 12-months ago, all the talk was of us making a double-swoop of West Ham youngsters, namely Joe Powell and Conor Coventry. The latter came in on loan, as we know, and instead of signing Powell, we got Scully and he went to Burton. The links to us were serious enough, the Ex WHU Employee on Twitter is a solid source who usually gets things right. Scully goes from strength to strength, but what of Powell?
After signing for the Brewers last season, the attacking midfielder bagged three goals, two of which came against us at Sincil Bank. This season, he has appeared 24 times for the struggling Brewers, scoring six goals, although three of those have been in the EFL Trophy. He is maturing into a good, solid senior professional though, and may yet outlive Burton, especially if they go down, and make a move to a stronger League One side.
