19-year-old Idah was linked with a loan move last January, and it seemed close to being a done deal if the media were to be believed. We were apparently in a tussle with another League One club, Doncaster I think I saw mentioned, but the Irish connection made it look plausible on paper. Before a deal could be seemingly done, he bagged a hattrick in the FA Cup, helping Norwich to a 4-2 win at Preston. Deal off.
How has he done since then? He started in the Premier League match against Man Utd on Jan 11, which essentially put paid to any move, making a further 12 outings, ten in the Premier League, without a goal and all from the bench. This season, he has been capped four times by Eire at senior level, as well as bagging a single Championship goal as Norwich beat Huddersfield 1-0. He’s been out since November with a knee injury and recently tested positive for Covid-19.
