Worst Performance of the Month – Shrewsbury – 5.08

With just two defeats in seven matches, the worst performance was always going to be one of those, wasn’t it? Shockingly, despite being thumped by Sunderland, it was the defeat against Shrewsbury which irked you the most, with an average player rating of just 5.08. Only Harry Anderson got a six, with Jorge Grant (5.9) and Alex Palmer (5.7) the other notable performers. This is a case of fans seeing the game differently though, as Michael later stated he felt we did the same against Northampton as we did against Shrewsbury, aside from the fact we took our chances in the later game.

Best Performance of the Month – Northampton – 7.40

One minute you’re losing 1-0 to a side in the bottom four, the next you’re going away and winning comfortably against a very direct outfit. Northampton were woeful against us, very negative and defensive, but we came up with the goods and won with relative ease. Anthony Scully started it all off with a great goal, before your Player of the Month, Tom Hopper added another. A Brennan Johnson brace earned him Man of the Match as we bounced back from two defeats, contributing to the strong overall rating.

Best Individual Performance of the Month – Zack Elbouzedi v Shrewsbury (8.6)

The win against Shrewsbury was enjoyable not just because we bagged four, but because we saw Zack Elbouzedi finally get a chance, and take it. In the weeks leading up to this game his chances had been few and far between, and had Theo Archibald have been fit, Zack may not have started. He did start, and what a game he had. The young Irish winger was unplayable, bagging himself a goal and creating two in our emphatic win. His performance was noticed nationally too, he rightly won Player of the Round and hopefully, can use it as a springboard going into the Accrington tie, which he is sure to be involved in.
