Stacey West Player of the Month for November

Worst Performance of the Month – Portsmouth 5.79

The month didn’t start with a bang, rather a whimper. Portsmouth are hot promotion favourites and they showed why with a masterclass in attacking football at the beginning of November. An early goal in each half really took the wind out of our sails and despite battling bravely, we could have easily lost by more. Instead, the Imps stuck at it and got a late consolation through Tom Hopper. Alex Palmer grabbed Man of the Match, whilst Harry (6.8) and Adam Jackson (6.7) also came out of the game well.

Which other game could come close? City scored nine goals in November and six of them came in one action-packed game. Three of the goal were sublime, with City looking dangerous every time we swept up field. The FA Cup expedition might have ended before the advent calendar was opened, but that doesn’t diminish to quality of the attacking intent against a disappointing Forest Green. As mentioned on the last page, Harry was Man of the Match, but Jorge Grant (8.3). Anthony Scully (8.1) and Brennan Johnson (8.2) all got strong ratings too.

Odd, a game in which the Imps bagged six and Harry wasn’t among the goals, but his performance was outstanding. Harry also took the award for Best Individual Performance last month for his 8.6 against Crewe, but this went even better with 8.8. When Harry is on form, real form, he is clearly unstoppable. He recently hit 185 outings for the Imps and on this form, he could well help fire us to an unlikely top-six spot. It has been a strong start to the season for our longest-serving player and he’s certainly risen to the challenges of League One football as well as anyone.
