If you thought Sheehan had a decent debut, you clearly did have a poor view of proceedings. And if Appleton is going to be consistent, he simply has to name and shame him, just as he did with Shackell. Give me Bolger every time.
Excellent article Gary considering where you were sat! It certainly was a mad game with more incidents than many other games added together. I didn’t rate the ref as highly as you. I thought he should have got a card out much earlier to stop the irritating moaning and niggly stuff which interrupted the flow at certain times. Sheahan certainly showed his qualities but a couple of misplaced passes and the penalty could easily have cost us dearly in a key game. Hopefully just rustiness and thank goodness for Josh Vickers. Overwhelmingly though it hit me how this style of football takes some getting used to after all my years of watching the Imps.
?good report Gaz, l wasn’t at the game Thommo on Radio was baffled what the formation was.
just great to Win
Accurate analytical acount of the game. I could add that there were far fewer poor “giveaway” passes – reassuring for the crowd’s collective nervous system! Sheehan showed his experience but the penalty, wow! He has some way to go to demonstrate that he’s a better choice than Bolger. Saturday did not convince me. I sincerely hope that the “refuse to lose” attitude infuses our remaining games. Given all the huge changes at the Club, most of all a new Manager and playing squad, a solid mid-table ending to our season will more than suffice for our first year in Div One.Anyway, I’ve renewed my season ticket.
Have to say I agree with the comments about preferring Bolger over Sheehan on that performance. Going to Tranmere on that quagmire of a pitch Sheehans alleged superior passing will be negated. Give me Bolgers orthodox defending every time; not to mention that he seems to complement Bozzie well as a pair.
Very unfair on him to be dropped yesterday.
If you don’t give a Stella performance in your first couple of starts for Lincoln, then it seems you will get a rough ride. Even Sheehan will wonder what he was doing for the penalty but that apart given he was ring rusty, I thought he did ok. Against a team who play through you, Bolgers aerial dominance was not a priority. Supporters need to embrace a more cerebral style of football, we are still searching for the right combos in different areas of the pitch. MA will continue to develop the group to play his way. We may as well get used to it!
