Rhys Murphy – Yeovil
This is one that has come from Football Insider, a source that is usually reputable. They did link us with Krystian Pearce in the summer though, so it’s not always on the nose.
Murphy has 17 goals in 29 outings this season for Yeovil in the National League and apparently is being watched by us and MK Dons amongst others. I’m not sure he fits the bill of a Lincoln City signing though; he’s 29 and has already failed at a number of other Football League clubs.
He started out at Arsenal, had loan spells with Preston and Brentford before moving to the Eerste Divisie in Belgium with Telstar. He’s since played for Dagenham & Redbridge, Oldham Athletic, Crawley Town (twice on loan), AFC Wimbledon (loan), Forest Green, York City (loan), Torquay United (loan), Gillingham and Chelmsford City before his heroics with Yeovil.
Aside from his goals with Yeovil and Chelmsford, his most prolific spell came at Dagenham where he scored 14 in 46 matches. This is one rumour I just can’t see coming to fruition.
