Jamie Soule – West Brom
Here’s one that I saw almost as soon as MA took over. Soule is a Cheltenham-born striker who has been tearing up the Under 23 scene at West Brom, which is where the link comes from. Our gaffer will have worked with him and know all about his extraordinary talent. He was recently nominated for November’s Premier League 2 Player of the Month award. He was key in helping the Baggies mount a comeback from two goals down against Stoke, bagging a goal of his own as well as an assist. He then featured in the 1-0 Premier League Cup win over Newcastle’s U23s before scoring a wonderful lobbed effort as they beat Middlesbrough’s U23s 4-1.
He was linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund towards the end of last season though, so he’s sure to be in demand if a loan deal is on the cards. He’s got a pro deal with the Baggies and it seems natural that if they’re going to develop him further, he enjoys a loan spell away from the club. If we did manage to bag him for a loan spell after Christmas it would be a huge coup.
Is it likely? I suppose of all the loan deals I’ve seen suggested it is one that might have legs in it. The pulling power of MA would be a factor, but it wouldn’t be unlike his loan move for Kemar Roofe at Oxford.
