Thanks, No Thanks: Sunderland

It had been suggested to me I could use Grant Brown, our club legend defender who was born in Sunderland. It wasn’t a bad shout, but as he never actually played for them it would have been a way out.

One player who did play for them, not at senior level, is Barry Richardson. Now, I know he did much more for us than just fight, but I had to include that video. It’s not the best thing he ever did, but it’s by far the most memorable.

I remember him having some great games under John Beck, not least the cup ties with Manchester City in 1996. Richardson was a popular figure at the Bank and all of that started with Sunderland.
