Phil Watt
Phil Watt made his debut on the opening day of the 2007/08 season. After a tough summer digesting yet another play-off defeat, hopes were high when Shrewsbury were our early-season visitors. Those hopes were ill-founded.
Watt had been named as ‘one to watch’ in a national football magazine, but he had ‘one to forget’ as we were hammered 4-0. He only played once more for the Imps, coming on as a sub for the injured Adie Moses as we went down 3-1 in the FA Cup to Forest at the City Ground.
He’s since done the rounds on the local non-league scene and I last saw him play a commanding role for Lincoln United in 2017/18.

The amount of flack various managers got for not using more youth feels vindicated. None of these have gone up a level. Was Kern Miller through the youth? I remember Sutton getting pelters for letting him go to Barnsely.
