Nick Blackman

I am making a huge leap here. Blackman is out of contract and, given that he’s a former teammate of Jason Shackell, I’ve thought to include him. Remember, all I’m doing here is throwing names out there for discussion.

If Blackman were someone we were to target, the money would be an issue. He spent last season on loan in the Spanish second division with Sporting Gijon, before that he was a big success in Israel with Maccabi Tel Aviv. He’s a relatively big name but I could easily see him being the sort of ambitious name Danny would like to attract.

Blackman has bags of experience at the higher level, he’s been with Blackburn, Sheffield United and Derby. His best spell was with the Blades in League One and that made him proven at this level, although goals have been harder to come by further up. He’s 29-years-old, 6ft 2in tall but is very much the ‘dual’ striker Danny likes. He’s good in the air but technically good with his feet too. He’s also left footed and can operate on the flank if need be.

He’s out there; we don’t know his wages or where he is right now, but for any side in League One he would be a massive capture.
