Thanks: Ben Futcher

There will be those who are surprised I’m issuing thanks for Futcher. The truth is, I struggled with Ben. He was great in the air, but he may as well have had a shovel for a foot, such was his passing ability.

Whatever my personal thoughts, he did a great job for us in the 2002/03 season. He grabbed ten goals, some of them vital, as we made it to the play-off final at Cardiff. 

After that he had another decent season or so before sullying his reputation with moves to Boston and Grimsby.

He started out at Oldham and I suppose we should thank them for the first appearance at a major final in our club’s history.
