Stacey West XI wingers – It’s time to vote

We seem to have been doing wingers for ages, that’s probably because of my hospital stay and the brief hiatus caused by that. Finally, from today, you can vote for your favourite wingers.

Once again I’m giving you the chance to vote for up to three, if you so desire. There are three names on there I haven’t previewed but who were nominated; Terry Hawkridge, Alan Roberts and Chris Cornelly. I felt the latter two were injured far too early into their tenures to truly be classed as the best, but the voters might disagree. As for Terry, lovely lad, but not on a par with the two I profile on the last page and therefore surely not one of the best we’ve had, even in the last year let alone the last fifty.

Also, I may have mentioned Carayol in the build up, but any player whose only season was 2010/11 will not be included in any vote of mine. Unless it’s for the worst ever XI, which is this summers main attraction!!

  1. Gordon Hughes an out and out brilliant Right Winger who only the wrinkles will remember ?

      • I thought I had! If I’m old enough to have seen him play I’m old enough to forget whether I nominated him. Then again I thought I’d nominated Gordon Hobson and he isn’t on the list either. I’m sure I nominated Dave Smith though – the greatest pure footballer I ever saw in the red and white stripes.
