Everyone clearly saving Todd Jordan for the wide target man role, smart

Yeah that’s right. Someone ‘nominated’ Todd Jordan.
He was a (how shall we put this) limited utility man often employed in the middle of the park by Gary Simpson. Most fans appreciated Jordan’s committed approach to the game, but few could forget how out of his depth he actually was. Todd was a nice lad, but so is Alan Long, and you don’t see Alan Long getting a run out every week.
When he signed, rather ominously, Gary Simpson said he had ‘signed for not very much money’ so it is a gamble worth taking’. Basically, he’s cheap so what the hell. He did replaced outgoing ‘captain’ Gary mills which I suppose makes him the lesser of two evils.
He did score a 12th minute goal for City early in his Imps career that ultimately gave us a 3-2 win over Telford, and in fairness I think we should remember that contribution, and not the next season and a half of desperately bland under achieving.
Just as a barometer of Gary Simpson’s selection habits circa 2014, Todd Jordan often started in the midfield ahead of Jon Nolan, the same Jon Nolan that (despite being a bit of a tool) is now playing at the top of League One and looking likely to move to Leeds in the summer.
Just goes to show commitment will only get you so far, eventually you need to show a little bit of raw talent too, unless Alan Long has been in contract talks with Paul Heckingbottom and we don’t know about it yet.
All of this tomfoolery has given me a great idea for the next Stacey West XI once the best ever is completed…….

Todd Jordan holds the honour of being in my top ten worst ever Imps. A depressing signing.
I feel a new SW XI
