Jordan Williams has today signed for League One side Rochdale, who entered the race for his signature on Monday.
City had been chasing the wide man from Barrow for a couple of weeks, but Rochdale have paid a five-figure sum up front, with add-ons in place that could boost it to a six-figure fee.
The North-West Evening Mail have reported that we were the first club to enter a bid for Williams, but they believe our valuation was below the amount Barrow wanted for him.
The fee will still eclipse the record fee Barrow have received, that being £45k for Jason Walker.
Keith Hill was delighted to get his man, saying:
“He’s a great acquisition for the football club. He’s someone we’ve been pursuing since the end of the season and it’s just great to get the deal done. He will be a great privilege to work with. He’s very honest, grounded, determined and hungry.”
